Our History
Palmetto Land held its first church service on November 14, 1982, at the Holiday Inn in Summerville, SC.
Impressed with this growth and with the guidance of Our Lord, Pastor Douglas Eugene Carpenter Jr., and some like-minded Christians ventured to begin a new work. The young Church had the vision to build a Bible-centered ministry to help people live successfully in the face of today’s adversities.
This new group of believers, known today as Palmetto Land Church, was officially constituted on June 26, 1983. Choosing Psalm 92:12 “The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree” as their Church’s verse and promoting “Common Sense Christianity” as their motto. The founding Pastor Douglas E. Carpenter Jr. (Gene), along with God’s people, and having his son join with him in 2010 as Co-Pastor, have gladly endeavored to advance God’s Kingdom by compassionately using the Holy Scriptures as the formula for an abundant life.
