Common Sense Christianity
JOY!   This one word tells much about the spirit of Palmetto Land Baptist Church.  Palmetto Land is a community of God's people who WORSHIP in joy and serve in joy.   Jesus said, "These things have I spoken unto you, and that your joy might be full."   The folks of Palmetto Land share their faith and friendship through worship, fellowship and outreach ministries.  In this day of confusion, loneliness and heartaches, you are warmly welcomed to take part in this experience of the joy of belonging.
Covenant
As a bond of unity among us, this church accepts for its members the following covenant:
Having been led by the Holy Spirit to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Saviour and on professions of our faith in Him, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.
We promise that we will watch over and counsel one another in the spirit of brotherly love, that we will remember one another in our prayers, and that we will aid each other in sickness and distress.
We further agree, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love' to strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge, holiness, and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to give it a sacred pre-eminence over all institutions of human origin; and to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel through all nations.
We further covenant to maintain devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintance; to live carefully in this present world; to be just in or dealing, faithful in our engagements, and, exemplary in our deportment; to avoid all tattling, backbiting, and excessive anger; to abstain from everything that will cause our brother to stumble or that will bring reproach upon the cause of Christ; and to strive to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, that amidst evil and good report we will humbly and earnestly seek to live to the honor and glory of Him who loved us and gave Himself for us.
We moreover engage that when we remove from this place we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God's Word.
Statement of Faith
The Palmetto Land Baptist Church holds the following statement of faith as being a summary of Christian doctrine whose authority consists only in its agreement with the word of God...

THE HOLY SCRIPTURES
We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the verbally and plenary inspired Word of God. The Scriptures are inerrant, infallible, and God-breathed, divinely preserved, and therefore are the final authority of faith and life. The sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments are the complete and divine revelation of God to Man. The Scriptures shall be interpreted according to their normal grammatical-historical meaning. The King James Version of the Bible shall be the official and only translation used by the Church.
(2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:20-21; Isaiah 8:20, 1 Thessalonians 5:21).

DISPENSATIONALISM
We believe that the Scriptures interpreted in their natural, literal sense reveal divinely determined dispensation or rules of life which define man's responsibilities in successive ages. These dispensations are not ways of salvation, but rather are divinely ordered stewardships by which God directs man according to His purpose. Three of these dispensations-the age of law, the age of the Church, and the age of the kingdom, are the subjects of detailed revelation in Scripture.
(Genesis 1:28; 1 Corinthians 9:17; 2 Corinthians 3:9-18; Galatians 3:13-25, Ephesians 1:10; 3:2-10 Colossians 1:24-25; Revelation 20:2-6)

OF THE TRUE GOD
We believe that there is one, and only, one living and true God. An infinite, intelligent spirit whose name is JEHOVAH, the Make and supreme ruler of heaven and earth; that he is inexpressibly glorious in holiness and worthy of all possible honor, confidence, and love; that in the unity of the Godhead there are three person-the Father, the son, and the Holy Ghost-equal in every divine perfection and executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption.
(John 4:24; Psalm 83:18; Exodus 15:11; Mark 12:30; Matthew 28:19; John 10:30; Ephesians 2:18).

THE PERSON AND WORK OF CHRIST
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful men.
(Isaiah 7:14; 9:6; Luke 1:35; John 1:1-2, 14; 2 Corinthians 5:19-21; Galatians 4:4-5; Philippians 2:5-8).
  1. We believe that the Lord Jesus Chris accomplished our redemption through his death on the cross as a representative, vicarious, substitutionary sacrifice; and that our justification is made sure by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead.
    (Acts 2:18-36; Romans 3:24-25; 1 Peter 2:24; Ephesians 1:7; 1 Peter 1:3-5).
  2. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ ascended to Heaven, and is now exalted at the right hand of God, where as our High Priest, He fulfills the ministry of Representative, Intercessor, and Advocate.
    (Acts 1:9-10; Hebrews 7:25 9:24; Romans 8:34; 1 John 2:1-2)
THE PERSON AND WORK OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe the Holy Spirit is a person who convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; and, that He is the supernatural agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the body of Christ indwelling and sealing them unto the day of redemption.
(John 16:8-11; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:12-14; 2 Corinthians 3:6; Ephesians 1:13-14).
  1. We believe that He is the Divine Teacher who assist believers to understand and appropriate the Scriptures and that it is the privilege and duty of all the saved to be filled with the Spirit.
    (Ephesians 1:17-18: 5:18; 1 John 2:20-27).
  2. We believe that God is sovereign in the bestowal of spiritual gifts to every believer. God uniquely uses evangelists, pastors, and teachers to equip believers in the assembly in order that they can do the work of the ministry.
    (Romans 12:3-8; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11, 28; Ephesians 4:7-12).
THE FALL OF MAN
We believe that man was created in holiness under the law of his Maker but by voluntary transgression fell from that holy and happy state. In consequence of which, all mankind are now sinners, not by constraint, but by choice, being by nature utterly void of that holiness required by the law of God, positively inclined to evil, and therefore under just condemnation to eternal ruin and utterly unable to remedy his lost condition without defense or excuse.
(Genesis 1:17; 1:26-27; 1:31: 3:6-24; Isaiah 53:6; Ezekiel 18:19-20; Romans 1:20 5:19).

SALVATION
We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins.
(John 1:12; Ephesians 1:7 2:8-10; 1 Peter 1:18-19).
